Hycolin 5 litre

Hycolin disinfectant is a clear soluble disinfectant recommended for environmental use in hospitals, laboratories and similar places, where infection and contamination exist. It contains an active detergent system that, on dilution, assists in wetting organic soiling and cleaning surfaces.

Hycolin has a pleasant odour and not the pungent, penetrating odour usually associated with older phenolic-based hospital disinfectants. It is also stable, with a shelf life of 2 years.

Hycolin has low toxicity, when compared to the older clear soluble phenolic disinfectants.

Description

Microbiological performance

Hycolin was tested by independent laboratories and shown to pass the following tests: European standard en14348 test at 5% (1 part of Hycolin plus 19 parts of water) for its effectiveness on mycobacterium tuberculosis. To comply with en14348, a >4 log10 reduction of the test bacteria within 60 minutes is required.

European standard en1276 test at 2% (1 part of Hycolin plus 49 parts of water). En1276 is the test of choice in the united kingdom for hospital disinfectants. The test consists of efficacy against escherichia coli, enterococcus hirae, staphylococcus ureus, and pseudomonas aeruginosa under contaminated conditions in hard water.

Hycolin has also been tested against methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (mrsa) using the en1276 protocol and passed at 1-50.
