British Antarctic Survey

Severn Sales recently helped Jennifer Freer with all her filtration equipment needs for her voyage to the Antarctic. 

"I have just returned from a six week research voyage on the RRS James Clark Ross to the Antarctic. This cruise is undertaken each year by the British Antarctic Survey and aims to assess the status of the marine ecosystem in the region of South Georgia. My job on board was to collect and filter water from several depths between 0 and 1000m deep. Severn Sales provided me with all the filtration equipment necessary, including the Rocker Lafil filtration system which worked faultlessly despite Southern Ocean conditions! This data will be used as part of my PhD on deep sea fish ecology at the University of Bristol."

Severn Sales moves upstream!

We are excited to announce that Severn Sales has been acquired by Solmedia Ltd, and as of the 3rd April Severn Sales has moved its operation upstream from Bristol to Shrewsbury. All stock is being held in the new custom built warehouse in Shrewsbury where the customer service and sales teams are now based.

The sales will be headed up by Joe Smith who many of our customers would know, and together with a bigger team we expect to continue to provide you our exceptional service of both used and new equipment.

Open Day Announcement...

We will be opening our doors with another open day on Tuesday 7th June. We already have a great selection of suppliers supporting and that will be displaying and demonstrating their equipment to you. In addition to this is the opportunity to view the expanding and successful Kastner Laboratory Furniture range in our showroom.

December is another busy month for our laboratory furniture installation team. Are you thinking about a new lab or refitting an existing lab in the new year? Ovens Now Available from Stock...

Due to the popularly of our range of Genlab and Carbolite ovens we are now holding a range of ovens in stock at our Bristol warehouse ready for immediate dispatch saving you the often long wait on the build to order policy on some ovens causing a delay of six weeks or more sometimes. Currently in stock are a range of 100l, 150l, and 200l ovens. We aim to be of service and this is just one more way we are planning to make things easier for you and your laboratory now!

This month our marketing department has been busy redesigning the layout of the monthly photoflyer for you so we can squeeze even more great offers, used, new and this month some fabulous unused products into the new layout! Every month in addition to our normal Product of the Month and selection of used products we will now be sharing with you a selection of our most popular and best selling new products as well. You can see a copy of each months photoflyer either by subscribing to it to have it delivered to your door or alternatively if you prefer a green delivery it is now embedded into each months eshot as well so everyone gets a chance to see the full range of monthly offers!

You will probably have also noticed a number of updates and developments to our website recently. We are looking to ensure you always have the information you require and to make your buying decision from us as easy as possible. Please check out our New Lab Equipment and Used Lab Equipment pages as well as our new page dedicated to Recycle Your Equipment where you can find out more information about selling your old or unused equipment to us either to stretch your equipment budget or as part of a part exchange on new equipment. In addition to this we now have a dedicated laboratory furniture page and FAQ page.

Stampede-a-thon - charity fund raising event...

The Severn Sales team took part in the Stampede-a-thon event at Chepstow racecourse on the 29th of August to raise money for the education of young people. As a company, one of the values that marks our organisation is the commitment to the development of the youth. We see this as not only fulfilling a commitment to all stakeholders in the wider community but also ensuring the longevity and future prosperity of our company.

Severn Sales Widens Their Scope of Supply...


You can now find more items on the Severn Sales website than ever before.


In addition to the wealth of used items available from stock, we are currently adding a large number of new product lines to our website. This includes many items only available in the UK through Severn Sales.


Our new products division had a busy time last month at Achema, in Frankfurt, and brought home a whole selection of fresh ideas from overseas suppliers – now available for you! We’ll be working with our suppliers to update our website – watch out for the special offers in the coming months.
